Green Technology
The green technology element of the Fullness of Life programme will address the following United Nations Millennium Goals (UNMDG) by achieving the targets set by the United Nations. Progress towards the UNMDG will be measured against the United Nation’s own indicators as listed.
UNMDG: Develop a Global Partnership for Development
Target: In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies, especially information and communications.
Indicator
- An increase in cellular subscribers per 100 population
- An increase in internet users per 100 population
(These two indicators have been chosen from the UN list of indicators for this target as it is believed that higher levels of income will lead to people acquiring cellular phones and accessing internet cafes. Other benefits will include increased access to radio.)
For the programme to achieve its primary purpose all the elements must be sustainable. In keeping with that, Fullness of Life will explore the possibilities of renewable energy supplies. Hydropower, biomass energy and wind power are all possible options, whereas solar energy is more of a probability. The plan is to introduce electricity as extensively as possible, for all of the benefits it brings in terms of improving quality of life.
Alongside this, Fullness of Life will introduce the latest developments in wind-up technology. Wind-up radios, in particular, will be used to enhance communication and connection with the wider community, as well as develop educational opportunities.
Fullness of Life will invite an expert from identified partner organisations to carry out a survey and assess target audiences and energy requirements. Certain charitable foundations have developed wind-up radio and light technology, both of which have implications for education and quality of life. Following the survey, Fullness of Life will develop measures to meet the identified needs.
